Botanical Name:  Lavendula angustifolia syn. Lavandula officinalis

Manufacturing Process:  Steam distillation of the flowers.

Country of Origin:  France

Aroma:  Herbal, floral, woody, balsamic.  The best known and most widely used fragrance of all the essential oils.

Some Traditional Uses:  Possesses amazingly versatile properties.  Particularly famous for its use as a remedy for minor burns; it promotes rapid healing and prevents scarring.  It can even be applied directly to the skin in some circumstances.  It is widely used to soothe and facilitate relaxation.  Helpful in treating respiratory conditions, colds, flu and asthma.  It aids in relieving headaches, nausea, irritability, PMS, stress, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety and insomnia.  Effective, through massage, in relieving muscle and joint pain.

Skin: With its soothing, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties it is extremely valuable for many skin ailments including burns, wounds, acne, dermatitis, and eczema.  It is also good for the treatment of skin infections, wounds, athlete's foot, inflamed skin, body odor, sunburn, and insect bites and stings.
