Botanical Name:  Styrax benzoin  This is the botanical name of the small tree, native to Indochina that produces the natural resin from which benzoin is produced.

Manufacturing Process:  Solvent extraction from the resin which is collected from incisions in the bark of the tree.

Country of Origin:  Vietnam

Aroma:  Sweet, vanilla-like.

Some Traditional Uses:  Valuable for treating respiratory complaints, including bronchitis.  Good remedy for many skin conditions.  It works as a deodorant, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory.

Skin: Effective in healing inflamed, chapped and irritated skin.
